Investors
Founded in 2001 and listed on the ASX in 2015, Adherium is a respiratory eHealth company focused on patient adherence, remote medication monitoring and data management solutions for patients, payers and providers.
Due to poor adherence and compliance of inhaled medications, severe and difficult-to-treat asthma and late stage COPD patients experience frequent and severe exacerbations resulting in high healthcare costs and financial penalties for providers. With global guidelines recommending electronic adherence assessment, the accelerated adoption of remote monitoring due to COVID-19 and US reimbursement in place for remote monitoring, Adherium is well-placed to be a significant player in this changing healthcare world.

Studies have shown that patients’ adherence is the primary issue for patients with COPD: “patients with underuse are at a higher risk for adherence-related morbidity” and have an increased need for emergency medication, such as the use of a rescue inhaler.1 These studies conclude that “for clinicians, it seems evident that efforts directed at improving, evaluating and measuring adherence should be a routine component of asthma care.”2
